Junior Staff Scientist Bioinformatics (m/w/d)

Location: Bender MedSystems, Vienna BioCenter in Vienna

 

This position will support our existing bioinformatics team in the design of oligonucleotides for our singleplex and multiplexing gene expression panels products on various platforms.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Custom oligonucleotide/probe set design to support our Quantigene product portfolio
  • External order process for probe sets
  • Technical support to customers, sales team, manufacturing etc.
  • Maintain and improve the current bioinformatics infrastructure and develop new algorithm/software if needed for our Quantigene probe set design pipelines

 

Your qualification:

  • Bioinformatics, University degree (MSc. or Ph.D.)
  • Molecular biology BSc/MSc.
  • 2-3 years of bioinformatics experience (BWA, GCG, NCBI, WU blast, or similar)
  • Sequence databases and sequence analysis experience
  • Computer skills:
    • Programming, Scripting language such as: Perl, VB, C, Java, C++, HTML/CGI, Excel/Word VBA, python
    • Database management (Oracle, MySQL, Access)
    • Operating system: Linux, Windows, Unix, Macintosh.
  • German (B2 Minimum) and Fluency in English 
  • Statistical skills

Your performance is remunerated with an attractive and market-compliant salary. For this position we provide a minimum salary of EUR 45,000,- gross per year. Overpayment is possible based on your previous experience and qualifications.
