Research Technician - Obenauf Lab

The lab’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor progression and employs a wide array of molecular biology, biochemistry, and in vivo approaches to understand cancer progression and identify new therapeutic entry-points. In this particular project we focus on skin cancers and have made exciting findings, which we would like to expand on. As part of our team you will contribute to the shared goals of the lab, work with other lab members and take over organizational responsibilities, yet also have the opportunity to work on a project-by-project basis more independently.

The responsibilities for this position will be:

  • General lab support (e.g. managing equipment, supplies, and reagents)
  • As needed, support other lab members on their projects or work more independently on specific projects
  • Techniques include:
    • Routine molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, cloning, NGS sample and library preparation)
    • Cellular assays (e.g. tissue culture, proliferation assays, FACS)
    • Biochemistry (e.g. SDS page, preparation of samples for Mass Spec)
    • Animal work (no experience needed)
  • Training of new lab members

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree (or equivalent) with strong wet-lab experience
  • Prior experience with DNA/RNA and routine molecular biology assays is required
  • Tissue culture and FACS experience is an asset
  • Willingness to handle mice
  • Friendly, collaborative, and pro-active mindset
  • High motivation to work in an international, fast-paced environment
  • High accuracy, reliability, precision under time pressure
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks; excellent organizational skills
  • Good English-language communication skills (German skills are not required)

The annual gross salary will be € 31.647 or higher, - full-time (40 hours/week), depending on qualification and experience.
