OBJECTIVES

  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership to evaluation and implementation of new analytical technologies
  • Advances analytical process automation and continuous improvement by implementing advanced analytics technologies in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Provides evaluation and implementation of innovative technologies such as AI, machine learning, and Internet of things (IoTs) to transform and enhance AS operations
  • Promotes a culture of AS Innovation by training SMEs with a new way of thinking and innovative tools

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Responsible for the successful direction and leadership of AS Innovation
  • Serve as an analytical single point of contact (SPOC) with internal and external stakeholders per AS novel technology, informatics, and systems
  • Apply principles of ‘internet of things’ (IoTs), machine learning, AI, and establish cohesive analytical information sharing and analysis center which emphasises integration of analytical knowledge management, training platform,  AS operation management, AS informatics, AS KPIs, real-time monitoring, IPC, and communication platforms.
  • Build analytical innovative capabilities into local sites.
  • Participate and represent Takeda in key industry Quality forums to benefit patients by influencing, leading, and collaborating with key academia, industry and regulatory groups
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Provides innovative business solutions and ensure AS function’s future-readiness by evaluating and implementing state-of-art technologies such as IoT, automation, machine learning, system integration, and AI.
  • Provides training to AS SMEs in the use of effective IT platforms, softwares, technologies and methodologies.
  • Provides vision and roadmap for automatic CMC management platforms using best-practice templates, SME’s knowledge, and cumulative CMC experiences from CMC teams.
  • With exceptional communication and stakeholder management, serve as owner and/or leader to manage assigned projects. Ensure timely delivery on budget, with high quality, and to customer satisfaction.
  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership to evaluation and implementation of new analytical technologies
  • Advances analytical process automation, real-time data collection, processing (i.e.PAT), and continuous improvement by implementing advanced analytics technologies in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Provides evaluation and implementation of innovative technologies such as AI, machine learning, and Internet of things (IoTs) for AS business operations
  • Promotes a culture of AS Innovation by training SMEs with a new way of thinking and innovative tools
  • Enhance integration of quality into AS operation by employing modern technologies.

Leadership

  • Provides global analytical technical support for commercial products in collaborations with internal and external partners
  • Ensure timelines for various responsibilities and tasks are met. If needed, implement corrective actions to overcome significant obstacles or adverse events to get back on track.
  • Provide oversight and stewardship of analytical innovation process and its implementation.
  • Leads and train AS SMEs in readiness of new technologies.
  • Actively engage in professional industry forums with an eye towards staying current and AS future readiness.

  • Exercises independent judgment to determine the most appropriate course of action including softwares and hardwares, in-depth data analysis, factor evaluation and use of established practices and procedures for a variety of problems of broad scope and complexity, in alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Serve as a peer-leader to motivate / inspire colleagues and to mentor others in various aspects of analytical technologies, IoT, methodologies, technical problem-solving, process improvements, and effective project management.
  • Frequently presents challenging issues and results at the department and cross-functional gatherings, and project team meetings. May act as an organizational representative and present at external meetings or publishes in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on contracts or operations.  Conducts briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives.  Interacts with equivalent level managers concerning matters of significance to the company.

  • Build and maintain a network of robust relationships with Analytical Experts, Regulators, Suppliers, Contract Research Organizations, Contract Manufacturing Organizations, and Key Opinion Leaders in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Take ownership of issues and drive closure quickly, correctly, and permanently for commercial products.
  • Provide effective communications and presentations on complex technical subjects.
  • Works on abstract problems across functional areas of the business.  Identifies and evaluates fundamental issues for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables.  Expected to escalate issues as appropriate in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to define problems and draw conclusions or provide recommendations based on limited data, as it relates to technical, regulatory/compliance and operational issues

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Education / experience

  • Typically requires an advanced degree in sciences, pharmaceutical software development, analytical chemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 10+ years of related experience. 
  • Track record of successful innovation and its implementation.
  • High level, a highly skilled analytical professional with proven ability to influence, negotiate, drive change, and ultimately deliver results.

  • Experienced at leading and delivering successful innovative technology solutions.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multitask.
  • Relevant experience with pharmaceutical pipeline products and CMC aspects of regulatory filings is a plus
  • Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills related to IoT, automation, system integration, machine learning, and AI. Proven expertise in problem-solving methodologies and able to mentor others in the use of effective IT platforms, softwares, technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills (including presentation skills). Can effectively articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience. Proven ability to clearly articulate technical issues concisely and deliver effective presentations on complex technical subjects.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Some travel is expected (both domestic and international) with varying demand dependent on number and criticality of projects and/or technical issues.
  • Expected range is 10%
